Information from Head of School, Stephen Manella, on April 21
We will adhere to Governor Beshear’s recent recommendation that schools remain closed for the rest of the year. While there is nothing I would like to see more than all of our students back on campus, our remote education plan will continue. Our Leadership Team has already been discussing how we can best bring closure to the year in the most meaningful ways for our students.
Our faculty and staff are working tirelessly to ensure that students continue to develop skills and learn new content during these tenuous times. Distance-learning programs during school closure vary for each division as we consider age-appropriate tools to enhance teaching and learning objectives:
- Upper School classes use their existing tools including Google Classroom, Gmail, Finalsite, and PCR to conduct classes as well as receive and grade student work. Additionally, classes use Google Meet to conduct live meetings during class times as well as hold office hours.
- Middle School classes use our Google Suite including Google Classroom, Gmail, Finalsite, and PCR to conduct classes as well as receive and grade student work. Additionally, Middle School classes announce live meetings once or twice per week via Google Meet.
- Lower School teachers use the Seesaw platform to post announcements, videos, and assignments for students and parents, and to receive completed assignments from students. Teachers also conduct Zoom meetings with their classes at least twice a week to have discussions, share work, and stay connected.
- The Class of 2020 Graduation has been postponed to July 23, 2020 at 8:00pm at the Sayre Athletic Complex
