Sayre junior, Ty Buck, moves forward to the National History Day National Contest in the Individual Performance category. He focused on bringing the Cold War to life by highlighting Teddy Roosevelt Jr. and the communication between various Air Force officials based in the Pentagon.
Although Ty is an experienced competitor having participated since seventh grade, he found this year more challenging given the virtual nature of the competition. In the past, Ty performed regionals at the Morehead State University theatre where “I could use props but now with it being virtual, I had to be creative.” Since his freshman year, Ty leveraged the Sayre History Department to provide inspiration and review scripts prior to participating in the competition.
Not only does Ty represent Sayre in history competitions, he is an Eagle Scout, a member of National Honor Society, has served as a broadcaster for softball and volleyball games and is part of the lacrosse and track and field teams. He hopes to major in biology/premed with a minor in history.
We wish Ty luck as he competes at Nationals in June!
