Grandparents/Special Person's Day was an overwhelming success!  Everyone was entertained by the Lower, Middle and Upper School singing and musical performances. Loved ones visited classrooms and the book fair.  Watch video clip now.

For the past several years, Lighthouse Ministries has hosted a Thanksgiving meal in the Sayre Buttery for local people in need. They typically serve 450 people, approximately 150 of whom are children. Since 2012, the Sayre community has partnered with the Lighthouse to provide the food for the meal. Based on the traditional menu for the meal, each grade level from preschool through eighth is asked to bring food for the guests. The Parents Association, Alumni Council and Board of Trustees join the effort by covering the cost of the turkey. The Upper School Student Council provide the plates, cups, and cutlery, and members of the Sayre Culinary Club help with the desserts. Because the biggest need of many at this time of year is socks, students in the Upper School and members of the Sayre Philemon Society bring in new pairs of socks. Tay Henderson, Director of the Lighthouse, continues to be overwhelmed by the generosity of the Sayre students stating, "At this time of year, giving away socks is like giving away gold coins." This year, the Upper School collected over 1,600 pairs of socks. Nearly 500 will be donated to those who attend the Thanksgiving meal in the Buttery. The remaining socks will be distributed to the Lighthouse Ministry, the Hope Center, the Hope Center for Women, the Nest, the Salvation Army, and the Room in the Inn.
