Though only one-tenth the size of many schools with whom we compete, Sayre boasts winning baseball records year after year. More significant, and a point of pride for Sayre, is our longstanding reputation for building and developing talent in the sport. Sayre’s strong coaching, great facilities, and talented players who stand out in the state's most competitive district, bespeak our commitment to developing athletes as well as scholars.
This year, three Sayre baseball players were selected for the 2016 Lexington All-City First Team: seniors Michael Flora and Aidan Elias and junior, James Dupree.
The three Spartans accounted for 89 runs batted in over the season, and Dupree posted the lowest ERA of the first-team pitchers, an impressive 0.85 over 41 innings pitched.
For the high school baseball player who wants to be challenged both on the field and in the classroom, Sayre is no longer just in the running-- it is a top choice. And for young men and women scholar-athletes who want playing experience before their junior or senior year, Sayre is ideal. Congratulations to this year’s Spartan baseball players for making your mark in the city!
