Sayre Graduates Earn Record Number of Distinctions for 2025
Sayre School celebrates the remarkable achievements of the Class of 2025, who have earned a record number of Diplomas of Distinction – an accomplishment that reflects their commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and service. In addition to this milestone, a high percentage of graduates also earned honors and high honors diplomas, underscoring the talents and dedication of this year’s senior class.
Cultivating Passions: Diplomas of Distinction
Our Diplomas of Distinction acknowledge exceptional commitment and talent across five distinct areas. These diploma programs allow students to explore their passions as they develop expertise and contribute meaningfully to their chosen disciplines.
Distinction in Creative Arts: 8 graduates
Through our Visual and Performing Arts program, we encourage students to pursue their interests in the arts at school and in the community. Students develop their artistic abilities and engage in the creative process from concept to presentation in visual art, music and music performance, and/or theatre. All students interview a working artist, and they also design and complete an independent project their senior year.
Distinction in Engineering: 10 graduates
For students with a keen interest and demonstrated aptitude in design, problem-solving, and the application of scientific principles, the Distinction in Engineering recognizes their innovative spirit and hands-on accomplishments. The sequence of courses prepares students for undergraduate studies in engineering, physical or life sciences, mathematics, and computer science as they develop critical thinking abilities and learn to apply scientific techniques. An independent study or a semester-long internship rounds out the experiences.
Distinction in Global Studies: 6 graduates
Through our Distinction in Global Studies, students pursue their interests in world cultures and international relations. Coursework and activities such as talks, webinars, and movies help students develop their intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, and language proficiency. To widen their perspectives even more, students also participate in a cross-cultural experience such as traveling, hosting an exchange student, or performing community service with an organization such as Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
Distinction in Service: 7 graduates
Sayre’s Service Learning Initiative encourages students to engage in sustained service opportunities. As students serve others, they develop problem-solving capabilities; awareness of social, cultural, and economic differences among individuals; and an ability to treat others with compassion and respect. Through coursework, service projects, and a capstone project, students become committed to making a positive difference in the world.
Distinction in Sustainability: 1 graduate
For students committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices, our Distinction in Sustainability recognizes their pursuit of knowledge and participation in initiatives that promote a healthier, more sustainable future. Coursework and community involvement integrate critical-thinking and scientific techniques while providing opportunities to conduct research and implement projects that advance sustainability on campus and in the local community.
