$500,000 Gift Bolsters Sayre Academics and Athletics

Sayre School proudly announces a generous $500,000 gift from Jim and Sheila Master. This significant contribution will enhance both academics and athletics, supporting students’ holistic development and advancing the institution’s mission of excellence.

The donation will support student scholarships, ensuring that learners from all backgrounds have the opportunity to succeed. In addition, funds will be invested in athletic programs to promote physical health, teamwork, and school spirit.

“We are incredibly grateful for this transformative gift,” said Stephen Manella, Head of School. “It reflects a deep commitment to nurturing both the minds and bodies of our students, and will have a lasting impact on our entire community.”

"We had a conversation about giving back, and education was at the top of the list," said Sheila. "Athletics is a beautiful program at Sayre, but to us, it's academics. Our son Leo attends Sayre for the academic programming, and we are proud to split our gift into both athletics and scholastics," said Jim.

"We hope Sayre continues to be strong, where students are educated by the best and well-prepared for college and beyond," said Sheila. "Part of our DNA is to give back, and we are happy to give back. We are lucky to give back, and we hope in the future we can do more," said Jim. "We encourage others to give back if they have it in their hearts to help others," said Sheila.

On behalf of our students, coaches, faculty, and families, thank you for your leadership and trust in Sayre. As a small token of our appreciation, and in honor of their shared love of athletics, Jim and Sheila were presented with an engraved Sayre Spartans basketball.
