The Gatsby Gala, a Junior Class project aimed at exploring the era of the
novel The Great Gatsby, was a huge success! The
students created the glitter and glamour of a 1920's party with abundant
daisies, baby blue and white balloons, student artwork, gold coins sprinkled
carelessly over white tablecloths, “cigarettes” and a dazzling canopy of lights.
The delicious table of hors d’oeuvres, West Egg and East Egg “Bars” with
champagne flutes filled with sparkling juice, martinis with rims of “gold salt,”
and the eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg’s billboard staring out over the guests
all created an ambiance that was undeniably the “bees knees!” Gorgeous flappers
and handsome gentlemen danced the night away to the Charleston; played poker,
pool, and putt-putt golf; and were entertained by Dunn Latham and Charlie Linder
who sweetly sang “Singin’ in the Rain.” More Pictures
