Who: Two Age appropriate camps (Little Safari ages 2-5 & Big Safari ages 6-11)

Camp Hours: 7:30am-5:45pm
Cost: All inclusive weekly fee of $190 (sibling discount available)
Sayre’s unique downtown location makes field trips to attractions rich in history and arts an integral part of the program. The themes and activities vary from week to week, and there is no repetition of the material covered. Summer Safari is a state-licensed program that may be enjoyed for one week or any number of weeks.
Summer Safari is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The $190 fee for the week includes lunch, snack, and all field trip costs. Siblings discount of $170 for each additional child. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $75 per child.
Let us know who referred you on the registration form, and we will send them a discount coupon toward their Summer Safari fee.
Weekly Themes (Subject to Change), Summer 2016
Week 1: June 6th-10th: Sail Into Summer Safari…
Sail into summer with us as we take a trip to Shaker Village and explore the beautiful grounds of downtown Lexington! Campers will cruise down the Kentucky River on the Dixie Belle, take a trolley ride around Lexington, and a trip to the Henry Clay Estates. Help us kick off summer as we embark on a fun-filled week of camp!
Week 2: June 13th-17th: Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re Going to the Moon!
Calling all Astronauts! Get ready to blast off into outer space as we travel to the Hummel Planetarium and learn all about planets, stars, and the solar system. This week will be filled with fantastic journeys into space that you won’t want to miss!
Week 3: June 20th-24th: Wet N’ Wild
Splish-splash, we’ll be havin’ a blast! This will be one wet week of camp to remember as campers of all ages will enjoy various water activities and games, water slides, sno cones, and a trip to the pool for our Big Safari campers. Be ready to make tons of soggy memories with friends as we have some fun in the sun!
Week 4: June 27th-July 1st: Party in the USA!
It’s red, white, and blue week at Summer Safari as we prepare to kick off the 4th of July celebrations! Come celebrate the birth of our country with us as we make patriotic t-shirts, 4th of July crafts, and parade around in Sayre’s Front Circle for everyone to see. Join us as this week is sure to rock!
Week 5: July 5th-8th: Lights, Camera, Action!
Stars will be born as we go “Hollywood” at Summer Safari camp! This week, campers will get to dress up in fun costumes, put on plays and skits, and walk to the Kentucky Theater for popcorn and a movie with friends!
Week 6: July 11th-15th: 2016 Summer Safari Olympics
On your mark, get set, go! This week will be one for the books as campers will participate in relay races, tug-of-war, obstacle courses, water balloon toss, and many more fun activities and games in honor of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Get ready to put your game face on! Join us for a week of adventure waiting just outside our door!
Week 7: July 18th-22nd: Come One, Come All to the Summer Safari Circus!
Ever wanted to run away and join the circus? Well, you can—at least for a week at Sayre! This week will be filled with activities for your little acrobat, lion tamer, or circus clown. We’ll visit the Bluegrass Fair, feed and play with animals at the petting zoo, and pretend to be circus performers!
Week 8: July 25th- 29th: Oh, the Places We Will Go…
Join us as we travel around the world in 5 days! Together we will visit and learn about various countries, cultures, and the diverse populations that help make up and unite our world. Campers of all ages will enjoy sharing what they have learned at our very own World’s Fair in the Sayre gymnasium. Don’t miss out on all of the fun we will have this week at camp!
Week 9: August 1st- 5th: We’re Buggin’ Out Over Insects!
Who’s ready for a creepy, crawly week of camp? We are! Bug hunts, insect crafts, and trips to the Arboretum and Mega caverns are just a few of the fun activities that we have planned for our bug-loving campers!
